BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
CLASSES
Denver Colorado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Instruction

The Children’s Program is
divided into two sections. The first section, taught from
5:00pm—5:30pm, focuses on standing skills including Muay Thai Kickboxing coupled with Boxing. During the first hour, students will
learn various types of kicks, punches, knees, elbows, and stand up
defenses. The second section, taught from 5:30pm—6:00pm, focuses
on ground skills including Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu coupled with Wrestling.
During the second half-hour, students will learn takedowns, takedown
defense, and submissions. At the end of this class, students will
participate in what we call “live training” where they will
grapple with each other allowing the student to apply the techniques
taught during the first half of the class. The classes are taught in a
high energy fun environment with an emphasis on physical fitness and
discipline.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
Program is divided into two classes: Beginner
BJJ class and the Intermediate/ Advanced
BJJ class. The beginner class focuses entirely on techniques.
When a student joins the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program, he/she will be
monitored by the instructors and will be informed when ready to
advance. We require this because there are core techniques that are
very important to learn before progress in this sport is possible.
These are the techniques that will be emphasized in the beginner
classes.
Once the student has been invited, the student is welcome to attend
both the beginner classes as well as the intermediate/advanced classes.
The intermediate/advanced classes will vary each night. Please check
the schedule for class specifics. In general, the classes are split
into two sections. The first section will be Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, Wrestling techniques, and or MMA techniques. The second section will be what
we call “live training” during
which the student will be able to apply the techniques he/she has
learned while grappling with a fellow student. The “live
training” portion of the class is optional, but recommended for
better progress in this sport.

The Muay Thai Kickboxing Program
places a heavy emphasis on the core Muay Thai Kickboxing techniques
including punches, elbows, knees, and
kicks. The classes will be a combination
of technique training using shadow boxing,
foot work training, heavy bag training, focus
mitt training, and Thai pad
training. The classes are split into beginner techniques and
intermediate/advanced techniques. All new students are required to take
the beginner classes before they are allowed to advance into the
intermediate/advanced classes. An instructor will inform the student
when he/she is ready to advance. The Friday night class is a sparring
class which is by invite only, meaning that you must be invited to
attend this class. Each class will end with a functional training and
stretching session. The Muay Thai Kickboxing Program is a physically
challenging class, however, each student is given the freedom to train
at his/her own pace.
